Grand Canyon Glass Bridge

Zhangjiajie, Hunan

A 430-metre glass-bottom suspension bridge stretched across the Zhangjiajie Grand Canyon at a height of 300 metres, connecting two cliff faces above a river gorge. When it opened in 2016 it held the record for the world's longest and highest glass-bottom bridge.

¿Por qué visitar Grand Canyon Glass Bridge?

The bridge is a deliberately theatrical experience — the entire deck is transparent, the canyon below is visible through every step, and the structural cables are designed to look as light as possible. Standing midway with cloud moving through the gorge below is genuinely striking. The surrounding Zhangjiajie Grand Canyon area is less visited than the main forest park and has a quieter, more dramatic canyon character.

Cómo disfrutarlo

The bridge is in a separate scenic zone from the national forest park, about 40 minutes by car from the city. Visitor numbers are capped and tickets often sell out online in advance — book a day or two ahead. The canyon below the bridge has a raft route that runs in good weather.

Consejo

The bridge sways slightly in strong wind, which is normal. Bag search and shoe covers are required. Avoid rainy days — the glass surface gets slippery and views disappear in low cloud.
